To The Left Stop Be So Ignorant About Gun Control

France  has a very tough  gun control laws but  it could not stop Paris November  15 terrorist attack or Charlie Hebdo attack.   Second if you take away all the assault weapons, you still leave areas that are vulnerable. It will not  stop terrorist  for obtain weapons and there not enough law officials who can respond before the attacker can cause  grave damage.   The was the case for Paris November  15 terrorist attack, Charlie Hebdo attack, 2015 San Bernardino attack, and  Orlando  massacre.  Let us not forget the  2013 Clackamas Town Center shooting: was stopped before  more were hurt or killed by an armed citizen who happened to be in the mall at the time.  He did not have to shoot, but pulling the gun threw the shooter off his game.

Portland Transit Race puts Taxi and Pubic Transit on the Bottom

Willamette Week had their The great Portland transit race. The race was a group of people had to go from e Willamette Week office in Slabtown to Roadside Attraction, the pleasant patio bar on Southeast 12th Avenue. The participants used Bike cycle t Car2Go, Lyft, a taxi and the bus. The race counted time of travel and cost.  Unfortunately private auto was not in the equation.

The winner was Car2Go at 18 Minutes and cost $6.47. the Bike was free at 22 minutes. Lyft 19 minutes costing $11.14.

As for the bottom of the barrel

Taxi 23 minutes costing $17.00 with tip

and Trimet 51 minutes at $2.50

I know firsthand the problem in using public Transit. My wok commute was 1.5 to 2.5 hours for a 30 to 47 drive. As for taxi no wonder why the cab companies are opposed to Uber and Lyft, they want to keep the tradition of high prices and poor service.

Earth Day Bah Humbug

Interesting story  from  The American Enterprise institute about  dooms day prediction a la the first  Eart day 1970.

“18 spectacularly wrong predictions made around the time of the first Earth Day in 1970, expect more this year

Some of my favorites

4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich confidently declared in the April 1970 Mademoiselle. “The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” (1980’s)

5. “Most of the people who are going to die in the greatest cataclysm in the history of man have already been born,” wrote Paul Ehrlich in a 1969 essay titled “Eco-Catastrophe! “By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.”

This is your Brain

reagan vs trump

I want to make a point with this picture pundits and others are missing: Donald Trump ran a very successful reality TV show. Also how popular culture including TV has dumb down rational thought. (hint: it all about emotions and feelings). Whereas Obama in 2008 ran the first successful viral campaign, Trump is running the first reality TV campaign. Trump is the master of emotional manipulation. He know who to act to get the response he wants even though is views and beliefs can be called into question.
There is an irony to Trump; Trump and Cruz also are the natural evolution of a conservative movement’s abandonment Reagan of limited government , individual liberty and capitalism. Trump authoritarianism is the evolution of new conservatism.
